About Us
BasicNeeds US, a 501(c)(3) corporation, has more than 15 years of experience in supporting mental health and development in Africa and South Asia. We provide US support for the advancement of the mental health and development model developed by BasicNeeds UK and now supported by CBM UK.
BasicNeeds US was formed in 2008 and we have given over $550,000 in funds to support the network. In recent years our focus has been on small resident-led community mental health support projects in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. This includes demonstrating the value of inclusive Village Savings and Loan Associations for families of people with disabilities in agricultural cooperatives.
